If you are a football fan, you know how fun it is to play to practice your football skills or just enjoy time outdoors with your family and friends. It doesn’t matter if you are a student, professional, or just a sports enthusiast, chances are you have a house with a backyard and have one or more children who love soccer. Building a soccer field is not just a dream but can be done by anyone, even if you are limited by a small area of land.

So, how do you arrange a car park, manage traffic, and manage a lot of schedules just for a little exercise? Of course, you want to provide the best opportunities for your child. But it will be more difficult to get your little ones playing or motivate them with competitive soccer drills if the only options are a muddy public field with no net, or worse, the outside walls of your house. As a parent, your job is to push your little athlete to be the best he can be.

So, it takes special training, skill development and constant play to achieve it. That’s why we believe a soccer park should be easily accessible to everyone who loves the game, and the idea of a backyard soccer field is very feasible.

Budget friendly soccer field

Building your own soccer field is much cheaper than having to rent a field or travel to a training ground. In fact, the cost can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, depending on what you want to make. Once you’ve marked out your pitch, you just need a soccer ball and a pair of goals. But depending on your budget and how elaborate the ball field design is, you can even add fencing, lights, and other accessories to complete your experience.

What size land is needed?

In general, the smallest size of a soccer field recommended for a good playing experience is around 15 yards by 20. However for a tiny backyard, you can settle for a smaller size if you keep this in mind which is a width to length ratio of 0.6251:1 , and the width should be about 1.25 times the width.

Add grass for playing comfort

Natural grass is the most inexpensive option. However, as you know, footballs can have a detrimental effect on grass, so be sure to supplement or enhance it with a hardier type of grass such as Kentucky bluegrass, Bermuda, or perennial ryegrass. Also make sure your lawn slopes no more than 1 to 2% and gets a good mix of sun and shade to encourage optimal growth and recovery of your lawn. You also need to be aware of drainage issues, because otherwise you may end up playing on a wet pitch. Another idea, use synthetic grass which is the most expensive option, but is durable in all weather and seasons and does not require maintenance or watering.
