Lucia Smart is an upscale accommodation product designed for the glass construction company Savon Lasituote Oy. This is a small glazed cabin by pirinen & salo located in Inari, Finland. The main goal of this project was to design a space that would allow one to experience nature in all its majestic beauty from the comfort of a king bed.
Its mirror-like exterior reflects the green surroundings, making it feel like it’s disappearing among the trees while allowing for an uninterrupted visual connection. To design the cabin construction, the architects combined a glass and black triangular steel beam structure. The mirrored glass volume that wraps around the exterior of the cabin rests on black steel floor bands, while the entire construction is also supported by a series of black steel stilts that lift it off the ground.
Outside the cabin, there is a slatted wooden plinth that leads to an outdoor patio that sits right on the edge of the lake. The interior of the cabin is finished in a uniform color that highlights the surrounding landscape as the main objective of the project, the steel and glass structure visible from the inside also allows for an uninterrupted 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape up to the sky.
The cab is delivered to site in a ready-to-use state, and can be installed on the foundation and connected to the infrastructure according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. This is the perfect cabin to hide away from the hustle and bustle of the city offering all modern comforts amidst the beautiful Finnish nature. Scroll down and take the amazing tour.
